Vampire


the sub genre vampires began in the early 20th century. it has been around since the era of silent movies. one of the most famous and noticeable films abut vampires to date was 'Dracula'. Dracula was a big success, because of it uniqueness as the audience found it different and exciting.The original book 'Dracula bought a lot of attention to the movie itself as it attracted a new audience. the movie has been created 170 times holding on to that theme of blood sucking and manipulating humans. 
however the deception of vampires changed through the years. Dracula the original well known vampire is known for his cloak, fangs dripping with blood , paper white face and dark clothes in general. vampires looked so terrifying that you would probably get nightmares for years to come after watching a movie like that. however now In recent days vampires are though of s 'mysterious' 'sexy'  beings. giving a totally flip in what vampires use to be. This was influenced by movies like 'the twilight saga' and shows like 'the vampire diaries 'which attracts the target audience of teenagers (mostly girls) attracting them in a sexual way rather than a horrid way.
vampires were generally associated with horror and splatter genre, however with different associations put with vampires they may enter the drama, action, science fiction, romance, comedy and or fantasy genres.


typical iconography in vampire movies include;


religious references; there's usually a church or cross sign in the film at some point, and as vampires are bound to hell the church creates a more spooky atmosphere, especially with a graveyard.


night sky; again this creates a spooky atmosphere and gives of the effect of fear and darkness.


the color red; this color can be given in any form and may represent blood and or death.

magic(human transformations in to vampires  vise versa)
conflict ( this may be with religion or love)

romance (usually creating conflict)
